I thought I would also share something else with you. I LOVE the old classic singers. They bring back DREAMS of when I was a child and all the things that happened back then. When I was a child, I would sit with my father and listen to music and talk to him. And when I was older it was listening to the old classics that took me away from my problems. Today I picked six reasons why one of the singers I loved and still do is Kenny Rogers. Although I don't listen to him that often anymore, these videos made me wish I did.
The Greatest

Buy Me A Rose
I love Kenny Roger's version but I couldn't find it. This one is beautiful and it is a truly beautiful song.

Lady

Every Time Two Fools colide
There is a slight lag in this one. But it brings back so many memories! I confess that I was singing my heart out on this one!

She believes in me

And any song he sang with Dolly was wonderful.

Feast One Hundred & Sixteen

Questions for Friday's Feast are here if you want to join in the fun….

Appetizer
What is your favorite beverage?

Alcoholic I'd say a White Russian or a Screwdriver non-alcoholic I would say coffee or diet pepsi. (Have you ever noticed how I am incapable of giving you one answer for any question that starts with what is your favorite?)

Soup
Name 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work.

Headphones
Pen
CDs

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?

9. I am completely honest most of the time. I am a terrible liar.

Main Course
If you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why?

Hmmm . . . that is a tough one. I am not good a renaming things. I guess because they already have a perfectly good name. How about a town instead. I would rename Dildo, Newfoundland to something less embarressing, like Cape Harris or some such thing.

Dessert
What stresses you out? What calms you down?

Stresses--Worrying about having enough money, about whether I am a good enough mother and wife, about getting everything ready for Christmas and paying the bills. Money mostly.

Calming--A nice hot cup of coffee curled up on the couch, a nice long bath, curling up with a good book, listening to music I love, talking to Prince Charming or my best friend, or doing my budget and coming up with a plan.

Thursday Thirteen Edition #22

Thirteen Things about Blogs TC Reads
  1. Pink Diary--Kailani lives in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been reading and enjoying her blog for quite some time. Right now, they have just suffered an earthquake. So, I would love it if you would go over and wish her well.
  2. Bag of Nothing -- I love his stuff. I never know what I am going to find when I go there but it is bound to amuse or shock or touch me in some way. I wonder how he finds the things that he does.
  3. JulieD--I consider her my friend and going to her blog is like picking up the phone to find out what's going on in her world today.
  4. My Paint Spattered Life--I have to admit that the title of this blog is what made me click the link to go visit. But on reading her blog, I found that Lindsay was someone I had a lot in common with.
  5. Just Linda--Linda is one of the best writers I know. I know that when I click the link to her blog I will enjoy the trip. I truly like the person that Linda is and we have so much in common that I tell my husband that if I had a great job and a few more girls, she is very much like the person I would be.
  6. The Colleen Scene--A great blog by a great lady. I always enjoy her blog and we both had daughter's the same age.
  7. The Adventures of Fantastagirl--I love to read her adventures, she and her family always makes me smile. I love the premise of her blog that Childhood is a fairy tale so why not have Superhero Parents for the fairy tale lives.
  8. Do you have Issues--I love to read Margie's blog. She is witty and well-written and I always enjoy it when I visit her.
  9. Dodge This-- I have been visiting Trinity13's blog almost since I started blogging. I look forward to reading her blog and her comments on mine. (and I look forward to reading about her new baby when the time comes!)
  10. Expectations are Resentments waiting to happen--Another blog I have been reading since I started blogging. I truly like DayByDay4-2Day and her blog.
  11. Heartsongs-- I love to read about karin and her family. Little Girl is adorable! As a mom, I have so much in common with karin. It is nice to have met her through the blogosphere.
  12. It's Just the Coffee Talking--I have only recently discovered this blog but I LOVE it! She never fails to make me smile with her wit and her sense of humor. And beside with our love of coffee in common how could I not enjoy her blog?
  13. And because I am incapable of limiting my list to just thirteen, I also love Crazed Mom, Honesty Rain, The Princess and the Pea, Petroville, Finding Carrie, The Daily Rant, Sleeping Mommy, Second Star to the Right

Not Quite Wordless Wednesday

I just saw the most amazing, touching, sweet, sad commercial I have ever seen. I have no affiliation with sick kids, in fact, I am no even sure where it is located. But, for the first time I can remember we just stopped chatting and watched. I was caught off-guard. This is the saddest/most powerful commercial I have seen in a while. I watched it with tears running down my face. It was a commerical for the Sick Kids Believe Foundation. The commercial reminded me of all those operations I had as a kid. All those lovely people who were so wonderful to me. It also made me so grateful that my little girl is so healthy and happy. I usually ignore all charity commericials on television. I don't have a lot to spare, but if there was ever a commericial that made me want to dig into my pockets and donate some money, that was it.

Tuesday Ten

  1. I am feeling really energized and excited about things today. I feel like I am on top of things and that everything is going great.
  2. My all time favorite song is Unchained Melody. I loved it in Ghost and I used to have this friend who was a singer. When I went to his concert, I was sitting in the front row and he was sitting on a stool singing the song and after it was over, he leaned down and gave me the rose he was holding while he was singing. This song just completely takes me away.
  3. I am missing my friends the last couple of days. I have one friend in Halifax that I haven't seen in years. We have drifted apart a bit and we talked via email yesterday. I am wishing I could really visit with her and catch up.
  4. My best friend in the whole world lives in a few hours away and I miss her like crazy. I liked having her here to share all the parts of my day with.
  5. I am proud of how much Little Princess's eating is improving and how we are doing together. There was a little while she was getting really defiant and she only really listened to her father. I even broke down and told her on more than one occasion, "If you don't behave I am going to go get your father." I never thought I would say that. She was just so used to me being the soft one. But now, she knows I mean business when I am telling her things and she listens to me. We are just doing so well together. She helps me in the kitchen, cuddles with me, performs little shows for me, and includes me in her play. It is sweet.
  6. I love grocery shopping by myself. It is really the only thing I do outside the house by myself these days. And I love doing it.
  7. I haven't told Prince Charming, but I dont' think I am going to be joining Weight Watchers officially for now. Christmas is coming and we could really use the money for other things. I am hoping to be down to goal or close before Christmas so that means I may never actually get to join WW.
  8. I love to listen to Aqua songs. They are just so upbeat and funny. They make me smile.
  9. I was looking at old pictures yesterday and I am amazed at how much Little Princess has changed and I didn't even realize. She was still a toddler/child back then but now she is well and truly my little girl. It makes me proud and sad to see her growing so fast. I am not ready for her to be so big but I love the person she is becoming and how much fun we have together.

Monday Memories

I was looking back at old pictures and noticing how I avoided the camera so much because of how i looked. I have so few pictures of my baby and I together because I was overweight and hated how I looked. That is kind of sad. It is sad that because of how I felt about myself, I have denied her the priviledge of seeing how much she was loved by me when she was a baby. I should have been out capturing memories for her. I am the keeper of our past before she can remember and I fell down on the job. She was and still is my world. It is sad that she will have to trust me to tell her that.

Here are some of pics from the past that I do have of us together. And the last one is from this past July.

Sunday Seven

  1. I have Halloween on my mind today. I am thinking about decorations, goodies, traditions, and all that kind of stuff. What are your traditions? Do you decorate? What are you giving out this year? I found some great Halloween ideas, I figured I would share here with you.
  2. Serve your Halloween punch or spiced apple cider from a large hollowed-out pumpkin. Use a large ladle to serve in orange cups. Or, serve fresh veggies using a hollowed out pumpkin as a bowl. Cut of the top and clean out, leaving the top in a jagged edge design! Use mini pumpkins to hold dips!
  3. Use clear food handlers plastic gloves to freeze ice hands to throw in the punch bowl. It will keep it cold and look great! Take lots of Halloween photos of your guests. If you have a party, leave disposable cameras around so everyone can catch candid shots!
  4. I found Wanda's Halloween Cookbook which is bound to have some great ideas as well. I love finding new cookbooks and recipes!

    Halloween Party Pops Recipe

  5. Halloween Cereal Balls
    Ingredients:
    1/4 cup butter
    1 pkg. (10 oz.) marshmallows
    2 Tablespoons orange-flavored gelatin
    6 cups crisp rice cereal
    1/2 cup candy corn

    Directions:
Combine softened butter and marshmallows in 2-quart glass bowl and cook on high in microwave, uncovered, for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, or when marshmallows are puffy.Add the orange gelatin and mix well. Stir in cereal and add candy corn. When the mixture is cool enough to touch, butter your hands and form the mixture into balls. Sit them to cool on wax paper and then wrap in plastic wrap. Instead of making them in to balls, you can also press the mixture in to a 13x9 pan and serve.

  6. Tie or sew glow-sticks to your child's costume so they can be seen more easily in the dark. You can also use reflective tape. Halloween style flashlights make a great addition to your child's costume and can add extra safety to a dark night, helping to make your child more visible while trick or treating. You can find ghosts, skulls and many more designs at low prices. Be sure to use long lasting batteries.

  7. And a Sunday funny to keep you smiling:

Feast One Hundred & Fifteen

Questions for Friday’s Feast are here if you want to join in the fun….

Appetizer
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend reading other blogs?

About 7 - 14 hours a week sometimes more sometimes less.

Soup
Your community wants everyone to give one thing to put into a time capsule. What item would you choose to include?

I would put in a piece of Prince Charming's armour, one of the bib's that Little Princess sucks her thumb with to sleep, and pack of coffee for me.

Salad
What is the most interesting tourist attraction you've ever visited?

Casa Loma as a child, I went there and I remember being fascinated and awestruck by it, by the story of it and the fact that a castle existed right there in the city.

Main Course
If you could give an award to anyone for anything, who would it be and what would the award be titled?

There are lots of people who deserve awards. Today I would give one to this person and this was another watching both of these made me cry like a baby today .

Dessert
What do you think your favorite color reveals about your personality?

I love black and red. I don't think it says too much about me other than I love dramatic colors and I that I can never narrow anything down to just one answer.

Thursday Thirteen--about TC

Thirteen Things About TC
  1. I was met the man I would marry at 28 years old.
  2. I always said I would like to have my first child before I was 30.
  3. I turned 30 two months after she was born.
  4. I wouldn't have been ready to a mother before that, even though I thought I was.
  5. I love 80s music and movies. They remind me of when I was young.
  6. Careless Whispers and Time after Time will always make me a little melancholy.
  7. The first movie I went to with my friends and no parents was Back to the Future. I still love that movie.
  8. I used to have a crush on Corey Hart and Patrick Swayze.
  9. I still love Patrick Swayze. Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite movies. I always rewind and watch the end twice.
  10. I would love to have a vegetable garden but I am afraid to because I don't know what I am doing.
  11. The idea of a new place, a new beginning is exciting for me because of all my moves. But the idea of moving, of leaving everyone, of packing my stuff, of paying all that money, of beginning again, terrifies me, exhausts me, and depresses me. I don't want to do it anymore.
  12. I used to love moving as a kid. I loved the adventure of a new beginning. My favorite thing was my first night in a new place. I will never forget the first time I lived in a city, that first night looking out the window at all those lights, I was awestruck.
  13. Prince Charming still has the ability to look at me and completely take my breath away. I love that.

Tired Tuesday

I have a booming headache today and I have so much to do anyway. Why aren't moms allowed to curl up in a ball and complain and baby themselves when they are sick? Instead I still have to get up, see everyone off on their days, run errands, make supper, clean the house, do the laundry, get everything done that needs to be done. Ugh sometimes it sucks. Oh well here is something to make you smile today.

Not so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed

Today is a day I would love to have been able to send her to preschool. Does that make me a bad mommy? She got up at 4:30 am and kept coming and knocking on our door, going pee and singing and playing in the bathroom, and in general creating a noise disturbance and I couldn't sleep. I ushered back to bed a hundred times I am sure only to be back up and ushering her back again a few minutes later. My only consolation was that she had no preschool today so surely she would sleep in and then I could sleep in too.

HOWEVER . . . . . . .

My child did NOT sleep in. She was up and at 'em bright and early as usual. Knocking on my door so that I could come down and put on a movie for her, get a drink for her, and all kinds of other things. So, after a restless night convincing her to go to bed, we are both up for the day bright and early.

So, if you wander past my house and see me standing on my step looking bleary eyed and confused just point me in the direction of my coffee pot and give me a little shove. I am probably sleep walking and need another caffeine fix.

Holiday weekend

Well it is a holiday weekend here. And I am going over to my Uncles for dinner. It should be fun. I love him and Little Princess loves to visit there. They have a LOT of dogs, and they bark like crazy. When we used to go at first Little Princess would sit on the kitchen counter and shake whenever the dogs barked. They she would make a mad dash for the living room (which has glass doors) slamming the door behind her. There she would hide from the dogs until we left. But now, she looks them right in the eye and says, "be quiet dogs!" It is so cute to see her so brave. The only time she gets scared now is if she is surprised by one. And truthfully who wouldn't be scared by a horde of dogs popping up behind them and barking like maniacs.

I had a lot of pics to choose from but since I have just done a post of pics of Little Princess sleeping, I decided to do something different. I look at him and I see the most handsome man I have ever met.

Depression

I get depressed every year. Every year the same things happen, I stop talking to everyone. I don't go anywhere. I gain weight. I completely isolate myself. My house becomes a mess because I just can't get myself to do anything. And I cry at the drop of a hat. I start to feel hopeless and out of control. I can feel it starting again. I am crying over stupid things, I am feeling sad.

But this year, I am going to fight it. Whenever I feel it coming on, I am going to go out. I am going to leave the house. It is just so hard to fight it. No one outside my house can ever tell. I put on a happy face and pretend that everything is fine and sunshiny in my world. I don't want to burden others with how I am feeling. So I pretend iI am fine. But it is hard. Because my mind and body just want to sink deep down in it. It is like a deep dark hole and I just want to go down into it and hide from the world. There is no reason. nothing ever happens but it happens to me every single year.

Last night I thought it was because we were talking about moving yet again when Prince Charming finishes school. And while a part of me is always a little excited about the prospect of a move most of me doesn't want to. I like my house, I love my neighbour. And when Prince Charming and I have another baby, I want to be next door to her. I really love her. She is sweet and funny and a wonderful mother. Every morning, I get a chance to chat with her and her husband and I am grateful for their friendship. I don't want to leave that behind to try to find that somewhere else. Why do that? I have that here.

So last night, we have decided that unless absolutely have to, we are going to stay here. I need to feel like I can put down roots. I need to feel like I can enjoy where I live without feeling like I am leaving in a couple of months. I need to be able to furnish this house without worrying about how much everything will cost to move. I need my baby to feel settled. I need to feel settled.

I thought that having that settled, having that decision made, would make me feel better. And it did to some degree. I am relieved. But the depression is still back there fighting to take over my mind. I am fighting this. I don't want to be that person. I want the smile on my face to reflect what I am feeling. I want to be in control of how I feel. I won't let this get me.

Feast One Hundred & Fourteen

Questions for Friday’s Feast are here if you want to join in the fun….

Appetizer
Name a song you know by heart.

Lady in Red
Don't Cry Daddy

Soup
What will you absolutely not do in front of another person?
I hate crying in front of other people but sometimes I can't help it. Other than that, I guess go to the washroom. (Sorry, I know that is disgusting but it is all I could come up with)

Salad
How often do you use mouthwash and what kind do you like?
I don't use mouthwash that often, I mostly just brush my teeth but, when I do use mouthwash, I like Scope Cinnamon Ice. It is the kind that I have now.

Main Course
Finish this sentence: I am embarrassed when...
Little Princess asks about people she sees on the bus in a loud kid voice. She has no sense of what might not be appropriate to say.

Dessert
What was the last food you craved?
Pizza, chicken wings, steak, donuts, and Ice cream

Rambling on about stuff

Little Princess is off to day Day Care today and again her allergies are bothering her. My poor little girl has had a rash somewhere for most of her life. And now she has a little one on her face. Poor Princess. And she is coughing again. I think again from allergies. I had them really bad as a kid too. I wish I could take them away for her.

I am sitting here alone in my comfy sweats, chatting with you guys while Prince Charming is in school and Little Princess is in pre-school. I feel like I am cheating. I was always the one who left and went to work while they stayed home. Oh well, I am going to get up and do housework shortly.

That mock apple pie I made the other day was WONDERFUL! I loved it! And I made a CORE stew yesterday that was to DIE for! Soo good. I have no idea what I am making today but I am sure it won't measure up.

It must be contact TC week in the world. In the last 24 hours, I have heard from 2 Aunts and my father. It is nice to hear from them, but I am so far removed from what I used to be that I really don't know how to talk to them anymore. I feel like they are judging me for the person I am and I am not sure whether I feel bad about how I have changed or whether I just don't care.

Blast from the past

My Aunt just sent me this picture. What a blast from the past. I looked into the shining faces of all these kids and knew that now they were grown up and most of them married with children. I can think of the stories that goes along with each little face. who is happy and who is having troubles. In the back you see three older people standing there. I am the skinny one in the pink pants with the large glasses and the hair down my back .

I looked at this pic and thought, is THAT me? No, it can't be me. I was NEVER that skinny. I remember, I was obsessed with my weight and trying to lose weight because I was just so fat. That girl, right there with the pink pants. too funny. I would kill to have that body now.
