Wow

It is a pretty amazing thing to be someones mom. To hold them in your arms and have them snuggle up close and to be their safe place. It is wonderful to feel them in your arms and to know that in all the world, this is where they want to be. They trust you absolutely. When they lie in your arms and sleep, they feel warm and loved and safe and all is right in their world. It is that warm, safe, loving feeling that gets you both through long nights. When you little girl falls out of bed at 4:30 in the morning and she stands at her door, crying out, "I WANT MY MOMMY!" The feeling of her little six year old arms around your neck and her head on your shoulder as she sobs is more than worth having to crawl out of your nice warm bed before you were ready to. To know that your love made her better is enough. To hear your 3 month old baby girl crying in her room and to walk in and see her tear stained face light up with a smile when she sees you . . . that is worth any amount of sleepless nights. When, after hours and hours of trying unsuccessfully, you want desperately to put your baby down so that you can drink a nice hot cup of coffee, or go pee, or stretch your legs, and she snuggles up close and presses her little cheek to your and sighs with contentment, suddenly, you just don't need that coffee so bad. It really is pretty great to be that shelter, that safe place, A MOM.
